Wilmington Drama League Gives A Cluck

 

The Wilmington Drama League is donating $1 for every ticket sale of The Best Litte Whorehouse In Texas to Oxfam International.  The money that is donated provides the initial funds for low-income families in Southeast Asia to buy chickens for breeding or eating. Oxfam is an international confederation that focuses on alleviating poverty and injustice.

  • Congratulations to our very own Ken Mammarella and Kristyn Robinson for their terrific showings at DTAFest! “Chinamen”, directed by Ken Mammarella won Best Play, while Kristyn Robinson’s “Playing God” took home Runner-Up! Both plays are off to regionals in April!

  • We’re thisclose to announcing our new season, so stay tuned to the website for information on the shows and exciting new changes for 2012-2013! The Mayans can’t stop us!!

  • Did you know that Parks and Recreations star, Aubrey Plaza, got her start at WDL? Check out the article in Delaware Today and learn more about Hollywood’s newest rising star.

  • Children and teen acting classes are back this summer! If you’re between the ages of 7-15 come spend your summer with Ms. Kathy and learn all about acting!!! Download the form for more information.

    • OUR 2011-2012 SEASON IS GOING STRONG!!

  • September saw Cy Coleman’s dark but lively musical THE LIFE. Tina Sheing directed, with musical direction from Matt Casarino.

  • In October – November, the hilarious romantic comedy BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, directed by Wayne Meadows, had us rolling in the aisles.

  • THE WIZARD OF OZ took the stage in December! Kathy Buterbaugh directed this beloved family musical.

  • Another musical kicks off the new year as Chris Turner directs Jason Robert Brown’s PARADE in January/February. Steven Weatherman music directs.

  • March brings Steve Martin’s whimsical comedy PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE, directed by Jean Eggen.

  • In April, The Chrysalis Players present the powerful play AND A CHILD SHALL LEAD, directed by Marge Ventura.

  • In May, Henry Porreca directs the hilarious musical comedy THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS.

  • The Chrysalis Players will close things up in June with the classic musical comedy BYE BYE BIRDIE, directed by Tina Sheing.

And that’s not all! As always, you can expect a fantastic One-Act Festival in February and lots of activities, events, and surprises throughout the season. Be sure to join us for another amazing season at the Drama League – and stay tuned for announcements about season subscriptions!
